Apparently God knew what He was doing when He made a woman's womb. At least, that's what Noah thinks! I went to the doctor today and there's no movement there; I'm not dilated at all. The doctor seemed just as disappointed as I was, as this was my last week with my "temporary" doctor and I'm the only pregnant patient that hasn't had her baby yet during my "real" doctor's maternity leave. Hopefully Noah will decide soon that he'd like to stretch beyond the confines of my abdomen (although it seems like he tries to do this some now) and wants to join our dry and cold world. Although, at least now I always know where he is and that he's safe, which I'm told are the primary causes of sleep loss in all parents.
To all of you who've called, posted and emailed, thanks so much for your prayers. I just want a healthy baby and to come out on the other side of labor as a whole woman ready to take care of my beautiful baby (Is it ok if I already think he'll be beautiful?). As we approach delievery day, Justin and I covet your prayers, specifically for me (Rachel) as I conquer some personal fears I've had for a long time about childbirth. I know, I know, you forget how horrible it was, but my fears mainly stem around the fact that there are dangers involved, and I'd love to have a peace that passes all understanding and to walk away from Noah's delivery safely. So, please start praying now that God would protect Noah and me. I really appreciate it!

For you health care professionals out there...
So, I've started having weekly visits at the doctor. I went last Wednesday and again yesterday because I got to get another ultrasound (yep, that's four, ladies and gentlemen). Really, the reason for the ultrasound was to check how big Noah is and just to make sure he's under the ten pound mark. Thankfully, he is and will most likely be less than ten pounds on the day that he's born. Now, in case you're wondering about the title of this post...here it is.
For you health care professionals out there who deal with new mommies, PLEASE do us newbies a favor and don't exclaim how big my baby is every time you look at a piece of paper! It's terribly frightening. Not only am I nervous about the whole birthing process and coming out on the other side with Noah and I being healthy, now I get to worry about the "little" guy being the size of a ginormous watermelon instead of a normal-sized watermelon! It's unnerving! I mean, really, do you have to say how big he is?
From the very first receptionist to the last nurse and doctor, ALL of them exclaimed that I had a big baby. It's obvious that he's big; I wouldn't be having the ultrasound if he wasn't, and you can look at me and see he's bigger than your average baby. Even the janitors at school laugh when I tell them I've got another four weeks!
Back to the visit yesterday, the radiologist looked at me, pointed at Justin and had the "sense of humor" to tell me that the birth wouldn't hurt Justin at all! Really, cause I thought JUSTIN was going to push this thing out! Anyway, current size estimates put Noah at 6 pounds, 15 ounces and, if he grows the way he should, that will put him right at 9 pounds on delivery day. He's a healthy boy; we saw his heart, stomach, kidneys, his boy parts, spine, hands, feet and brain. It's really fun, in that light, to have so many ultrasounds because it's Justin's blog come to life!
Anyway, on a more sentimental note, I'm incredibly lucky to have Justin as a husband. He's truly been a servant the past couple of weeks. He always was, but he recognizes that I like my independence, too. In the past couple of weeks, we've been trying to figure out where we're going to put Noah since we're moving in July. Justin has been non-stop packing, moving, re-arranging, sorting and putting things together. In addition to that, I'm a little under the weather. Today I was out looking for cradle sheets (by the way, cradle manufacturers out there...make sure they sell sheets the same size as the cradle you're making) and I called Justin. He said, "Honey, why don't you come home and we'll figure this all out. You sound like you don't feel well and maybe a nap would help." Heck, yes, I've scored the husband of the century. I love you, babe.
More sentimental mush: having a baby is a huge deal, but getting to feel Noah move around is something that is AMAZING. It's hard to believe that in four short weeks I won't know every time he's got the hiccups or every time he gets the urge to kick something (hopefully it won't be my ribs any more). I know that's something I'll grieve, so please pray for me. He's an amazing baby and he's given me a textbook pregnancy (even though it's a large textbook) and I can't wait to meet him and see what life is like with him, but I'm pretty sure I'm going to miss knowing him this way. I love you, baby Noah.

Weekly Visits!
What a wonderful shower! Here are some pictures for you guys that my parents took, and I'll add more as soon as I get more uploaded from my camera. The shower was thrown by Alan, Michelle and Tiffany Smith, who are relatives of Justin's family and have been so wonderful. They live in Houston and it's been wonderful to be so close. It was great to see everyone at the shower, and we had quite a mix of people. Thanks to everyone who came, and if you couldn't make it, we missed you! Oh, and for you belly stalkers out there, this is the most you're going to get. I'm so huge I don't fit sideways in a picture! Just kidding, but I hope you can see how big Baby Noah is!
We went to our first doctor visit with our new doctor and she ordered another ultrasound to see how big baby Noah is. I'll go have that done on Monday. Also, this visit marks the first of my weekly visits. So far, I'm not dilated at all, which is good since Noah still has four weeks to cook! The doctor said that after ten pounds they give me the option of an ultrasound, and after twelve pounds they don't give me the option anymore! My thoughts on that: HOLY CRAP...12 POUNDS!!!
So, we'll just have to see. We have a doctor's appointment immediately following the ultrasound, so we'll let you know then. Lastly, it's my Spring break this week and I take my comprehensive final exams on Wednesday. Please pray for me! This determines if I graduate from my Master's degree program or not!!!

Hello Spring!
Although it's not officially Spring yet, it's close enough to the Spring forward time change that I thought I'd welcome Spring. I love Spring; it's truly my favorite time of year. I love that the days are starting to get longer, I love that the grass is getting greener and I LOVE that it's perfect flip flop weather, especially now that I'm getting big enough that I can't bend over to tie my shoes.
I go to the doctor on Wednesday, but it's the new one so I'm a bit nervous. Did I mention that my normal OB was pregnant (about 4 weeks ahead of me) and had her baby last Friday? So, I'm off to the new one. My old one says that she'll be back to deliver me, but we'll see what Noah has to say about that. So, I'll post any news that I have after that.
We're getting ready to have some company for a shower this weekend, and I can't wait for the shower. It's Sunday and I'll post pictures. Justin's cousin, Alan, and his wife Michelle are throwing us a shower in Houston. We're SO excited. I think Justin is the most excited because 1) he gets to come and, 2) he gets to play with their beautiful daughter, Tiffany Grace!
Other than that, things are pretty normal here. Hope you're enjoying 'almost' Spring as much as I am!
By the way, if you haven't checked out Justin's blog recently, you totally should! He's doing a great job keeping everyone posted about how Noah is growing!
